Egypt is a long way from Westwood, but that's where the action is tonight. It's opening night for Aida. (No, not Ikea - that's the Swedish opera.) This is a big production with lots of words and lots of notes for choristers, but I think I'm ready. It's our final production with Maestro Coppola, who is hanging up the baton (well, he actually conducts with a pencil) at age 95. I wish I could convince all you Bruins to see this show at least once before you join the choir invisible. It's really magnificent music and it truly is the grandest of all grand operas. And what's more, we have an actual camel in the show.
Anyway, that's it for me until much later.
