UCLA vs. Oregon St. Saturday Baseball Open Thread: Bruins Go For Series Win

Odds are that UCLA will need a little more offense today than they did yesterday. Thanks to Adam Plutko an David Berg combining on a two-hitter yesterday, just one run would have been enough for the Bruins, but asking for a second consecutive shutout may be a bit much. However they go about things, though, a win today will secure the series win and keep them atop the Pac-12, where they remain in a three-way tie with Arizona and Oregon.

Nick Vander Tuig will try to do his best Plutko impression today. The right-hander's ERA is all the way up at 5.24, but he does have a 4-2 record so he's clearly done enough to keep the Bruins in games. Freshman Jace Fry will be on the mound for Oregon St. and he's been fantastic this season. While just 3-2, he has a 2.80 ERA and has been utterly dominant at times so the Bruins' offense is in for a tough one.

This game is televised live on ROOT Sports Northwest and also on Fox College Sports Pacific so you can tune in there. John Ramey is back on the road for the weekend and up in Corvallis so he has the call online. As always, you can check my UCLA baseball twitter for game updates, notes, observations and everything else on the program. This is your open thread for today as the Bruins go for the series win so have at it.
