Here's hoping that Chianti Dan reads the sports pages. Because he will soon learn, if he hasn't already that the Big East is looking for a new conference commissioner after John Marinatto resigned today.
Let's hope and pray that Dan brushes up that resume and sends it in to the Big East.
He can play up his experience on the NCAA Basketball Selection committee for the old guard of the Big East. Those guys will eat that up.
He can tell the newer members how his experience of hiring 3 football coaches makes him qualified to shepherd a league that is dependent on football too. Not to mention how he "straps it on everyday." Whatever "it" is.
More about the job opening after the jump.....
In an article on Yahoo! Sports, Pat Forde discusses what it takes to be a conference commissioner these days.
Forde writes:
In modern college athletics, a commissioner must have a wide skill set. He or she must be a forceful media-rights negotiator; a skillful intra-conference consensus builder; an alignment visionary; an unabashed money hound (or "revenue-enhancer") for its members; a legal expert; and a P.R. smoothie.
It's also necessary to be fully invested in football, the driving force in all big-picture decisions at the conference level.
Hmmm.....by my guesstimate, Guerrerror possesses......none of that.
Well, then, let's hope he can fool an entire group of school presidents the way he has with Gene Block!
