Thanks to tasser10, Patroclus and gbruin in pushing back against all the nonsense that have blown up around incoming Bruin Justin Combs this week. There is not a lot to add in terms of advancing common sense arguments about how all of this is much ad about nothing.
However, I think as members of UCLA community we need to let Justin know one thing. He shouldn't even consider giving up his scholarship at this point. If Combs family donate Justin's scholarship as a show of "goodwill" it will only vindicate the ridiculous smears that CNN and other irresponsible members of traditional media outlets have leveled at this kid in recent days.
May be Combs will donate his scholarship to UCLA some day. May be not. If he even enterains that possibility, he shouldn't think about doing it at least in couple of years. He just shouldn't do it now. If he does it, it will be a massive cave to a superficial media mob that has blown up a faux controversy.
Combs should brush all of that nonsense of and get ready for his freshman year. He shouldn't even think about giving up his scholarship. He earned it the old fashioned way - working his tail off both in the clasroom and doing his part on the field. We couldn't be happier to have him as part of the UCLA family. He should know - now more than ever - the entire Bruin Nation is with him.
GO BRUINS.
