UCLA Football Quick Hitters: A Retirement & A New Commit

Couple of quick hitters from Bruin football for this Sunday. First, Wade Yandall has taken a medical retirement due to concussion related issues (Via BruinsBall, HT Bruins#1). This is tough news for all parties involves. Yandall was a great student athlete with a lot of promise. Given our depth issue at the OL spot we are going to miss him. Here is how the post spring depth chart looks right now without Wade (via gbruin's post spring analysis):

So in addition to worrying about RT now we have to be concerned about LG as well. As for Wade, this had to be an incredibly tough decision for him. We hope he finishes out with a Bruin degree and finds success with whatever career he chooses to pursue. He will do great.

Second, per Brandon Huffman at BRO, Bruins have picked up a commitment from Inoke Lotulelei, a 5-8, 175 WR from Salt Lake City (UT) [Cottonwood, HS]. Here are some (silent) video highlights:

This was a curious offer to be frank. I am guessing UCLA is looking at him fitting in at slot receiver in Noel Mazzone's offense. He didn't have any other offers. I don't really get it.

Hopefully this is a case of Bruin coaches being ahead of their peers in terms of scouting talent. Inoke becomes the Bruins 8th commitment for the class of 2013.

GO BRUINS.
