Quite aside from his other brazen lies (he WAS there and DID have something to do with it, when it comes to the Reggie Bush situation), Lame's ability to maintain a straight face while simultaneously 'feeling for' Penn State coach Bill O'Brien and attempting to recruit away O'Brien's star running back is amazing. Shame the ESPNLA reporters didn't point this out... details after the jump.
From the puff-piece-titled "Lane Kiffin feels for Bill O'Brien" on ESPNLA:
USC coach Lane Kiffin said ... he does sympathize with Nittany Lions coach Bill O'Brien for what he is about to face.
...
"And I do feel for their coaching staff. You're dealing with a head coach who wasn't there and has nothing to do with it and players who weren't there, either.
"They're paying the price even though they had nothing to do with it, which is obviously similar to what we went through."
and, from ESPN.com
Silas Redd remains undecided as to whether he will stay at Penn State, a source close to the star running back told ESPN.com.
...
Penn State's leading rusher last season, Redd still is pondering his options, including a possible transfer to USC, the source said.
...
USC notified Penn State on Monday that it is interested in Redd
...
USC coach Lane Kiffin would not comment on Redd specifically Tuesday during the Pac-12's media day. But Kiffin acknowledged that the Trojans could use help in the backfield.
"Our No. 1 concern is our running back depth," Kiffin said. "We really have to do a good job there developing depth."
And that's how much Trogan sympathy is worth. Time to buy Bill O'Brien that "Sorry you got penalized for something you didn't do, sending good thoughts your way! (fyi I took your best player)" Hallmark card.
