Increased Pressure: Mora Loses Out On a Key Recruiting Prospect

Jim Mora lost out on a huge recruit today. One of UCLA's most pivotal recruiting targets in this year's class - safety Hatari Byrd from Fresno - committed to Oklahoma today:

This was a big shock to many who follow recruiting closely b/c Bruins were reportedly doing very well Hatari. However, it shouldn't be much of a surprise to an impartial observer when a kid like Hatari picks a powerhouse program under a proven head coach like Oklahoma over a program like UCLA with an unproven head coach, who is selling hope, toughness, culture change and all the other usual hype we get with a new coaching staff.

I know that is not fair to Mora but that's the reality of the situation. This is why it is urgent for Mora to win now - this year. With the complete gutting of UCLA football under the current incompetent athletic regime of Chianti Guerrero, Bruins cannot afford to have another 6-8 win up or down roller coaster season with another ass-kicking or BS moral victory against Southern Cal.

Mora needs to get it done now on recruiting trail otherwise stories like Hatari will become common place for the new staff. But hey we will serve up silver lining for Chianti lovers - apparently Hatari loved those white surrender uniforms Chianti broke out last season.

GO BRUINS.
