Rice:Should Our Opener Dictate Tempo of the Season?

I dont know about ya'll but I am counting the days as we embark on the ever so anticipated, Jim Mora, Jr. era! To at least get a glimpse of what could be the first steps towards, again, becoming an elite Pac 12 contender, and ultimately contending for National Championships on a regular basis!

Ok.....so I got a little carried away... a victory @ Rice will do for now. (its ok to dream a lil bit:)

IMO I think that not only do we need a win @ Rice but our Bruins must send a clear message to anyone looking, that Jim Mora's Bruins mean business!

In our last four openers the performances of UCLA were very mediocre:

2011 @ Houston 38-34 L.....unacceptable.

2010 @ Kansas St. 31-22L....again...unacceptable.

2009 San Diego St. 33-14W....C'mon... SD St. ? ...at Home?...mediocre to say the least.

2008 Tenessee 27-24W O/T....Vols went 5-7 that season...then BYU boinks us 59-0 two weeks later.

You get the picture....

(Metaphor for the week)"We must walk through Rice to meet up with the Cornhusker!"

If a tune up game is put in place, then a tune up game it shall be! The mediocrity stops now. Honestly if we dont see a score like 42-7W or 48-10W then I will have to take this season week by week especially if the score reads 24-17W or 28-14W. And if for some strange planet alignment, we should lose, then I think I might just rip my eyeballs out and stomp on them for showing me that!

So what do you think: Should we just..... Beat the Owls?

Or should we STOMP the Owls in thier own backyard! As it should be!
