Pac-12 Network on Verizon FIOS

In case anyone else has Verizon FIOS as their TV provider, here's some news on the status of their carriage situation.

I live in Southern California and have Verizon FIOS as my TV provider. Currently they don't carry the Pac-12 network so I called them this morning to see what's going on.

The rep I talked to provided some encouraging information. He said they were getting "lots of calls" about this, and that apparently the negotiations between Verizon and the network were at an "advanced stage." I believe he characterized it as "just crossing the T's and dotting the I's." Who knows. But he did add that the deal would not be completed by this weekend. I asked him if they would be carrying both the Southern California channel and the national channel. He went back to check with someone in sales and marketing and when he came back he said that isn't known at this point.

I told him that I was going to give the situation one more week, but if they didn't resolve it soon, I might look at switching over to Time Warner even though that would not be my first preference.
