You can bet Coach Mora had some words with the Offense in the locker room.
We are halfway through the Bruins' first game as a ranked team in five years. The Bruins are making the Vegas oddsmakers happy, with a 17-point halftime lead, but the way it has come about is a bit of a surprise. The UCLA Defense has put to shame a Houston offense which was supposed to put up yards and points tonight, shutting out the Cougar offense in the first 30 minutes. Of course, that means that the Bruins put 17 points on the board - with the UCLA offense struggling: While the team has gained over 300 yards, 3 turnovers have helped limit the O's scoring to10 points.
Great start by the defense, with Eric Kendricks picking up a dropped Houston lateral, taking it to the house for 6 points on the second play from scrimmage. Not to let his defense-mate get all of the scoring, Datone Jones came in on the Bruins' first chance at the goalline, catching a short TD pass from Brett Hundley to give UCLA a 14-0 lead. And Ka'imi Fairbairn has continued to progress from his opening game struggles, hitting a 35-yard field goal and making both extra points attempts.
8-Clap for the Defense's performance in the first half!
Now the Offense needs to come out of the locker room with the same focus and ability to execute.
Here is you second half open thread. Have at it.
Update - P: For anyone wanting to talk about Kiffin and Southern Cal's Fail on the Farm, there is a thread for that.
