Bruins in need (Damian Horstman '94)

My brother, Damian Horstman, UCLA '94, and I are lifelong Bruins fans and avid readers of Bruins Nation. Tragically, my brother lost his life in a bicycling accident in San Luis Obispo last week. The story from the newspaper can be found here. Damian leaves behind a wife, Jenny Horstman (nee Rowe), UCLA '98 and two young sons, Mason (age 4) and Beckett (age 2). My family wanted to share the news with alums who may have lost touch with my brother, and our bet was that many of them read this great website.

We have established an educational fund for Damian's children at www.fortheirkids.org. All donations are tax deductible and may be eligible for corporate matching. My family is grateful to all who may consider making a contribution.

Some of my last correspondence with my brother was about how happy he was with the resurgence of the football team, especially after the Nebraska win. It seems trivial now, but I'm glad he was happy. I am a season ticketholder, and we always attend at least one game a year together. This year the game was going to be Stanford (where he completed his residency). I will still attend and cheer for two.

This is a great site, and has (and will continue to) serve as a great distraction from the daily grind. Thank you for sharing this space with me.

Go Bruins!
