I love this forum and I love UCLA athletics. I was not fortunate enough to get in to UCLA as a student, but I'm a lifelong Bruin fan (since the day I was born in Dec '77) and heard stories growing up from my father about the Wooden days (the full-court press, Alcindor, not calling timeouts, etc) and how his older brother was an SC fan and he became a Bruin fan (I'm guessing in the late 40's/early 50's) because "I hated how SC would get all of the breaks."
My first memory was probably the 45-9 Rose Bowl win over Illinois, Gaston Green, Matt Stevens, et al. We experienced the frustration of Donahue ball that could have been so much better than it was. The Toledo days had some good memories with McNown and the 20-game winning streak. My first $C game was in 1998 when we kicked their behinds, but the Miami loss still haunts me to this day and the football program hasn't been the same as we know. I sat in the Coliseum in the 27-0 loss and the 47-22 loss and at the Rose Bowl in the 52-21 game and had to experience the smug, arrogant $C fan a-holes. I was fortunate the be at the 13-9 game which seems like 60 years ago and not 6! Shortly after my father passed in 2009 the Tennessee trip fast approached and I was near tears in Neyland Stadium as I felt like my dad was with me and my buddies when the Bruins pulled it out against Lame Kiffin. That Tennessee game was one of the greatest experiences of my life in terms of southern hospitality.
Excuse me for the excessive rambling, but I just wanted to introduce myself and want to reiterate that I love the message of BN and that Dan Guerrero hasn't a clue how to run this athletic program and needs to go. I hated the Mora hire, but so far so good with him and his staff. And Howland? Man I can go on and on. And don't get me started on the debacle that is adidas and the utter embarrassment of the UCLA stripe!
Go Bruins and beat them Huskers!
