Who will be the next star to join Owa and co. in the Bruin front-7? - Doug Pensinger
Bumped from the fanpost sections. Recruits who UCLA is doing very well with at this late stage of the (recruiting) game. - BN Eds.
1. Eddie Vanderdoes;DT
This guy is just a machine. A recent decommit from the crosstown rival USC Trojans, I would not be surprised with him going to Westwood. UCLA, with the graduation of Datone Jones, needs to fill their defensive line with some meat, and this guy has it. He is currently considering UCLA, USC, and Notre Dame.
2. Isaac Savaiinaea; LB
The top prospect out of Hawaii, according to ESPN, is currently considering UCLA and Texas A&M. It would be surprising if he did not go with the Bruins, because Texas A&M is simply stacked with linebackers in their recruiting class with six already, not to mention they accepted a linebacker transfer from TCU. He be able to compete in place of Damien Holmes, who graduates this year, while he would have to compete with six, seven other guys in College Station. Also, reports say that his recruiter from Texas A&M, Brian Polian, is headed to Nevada, which could push him away from the Aggies to the Bruins. This is a no-brainer for the Bruins.
3. Kylie Fitts; DE
Another USC decommit, Fitts poses a big threat to offensive lines. He would fill the role of Datone Jones nicely, although I believe the job will go to Ellis McCarthy, another outstanding DE. Fitts and his family have an outstanding relationship with UCLA and its coaches, and it would be surprising if he went elsewhere. Fitts recently visited Westwood this weekend and tweeted that everything was absolutely terrific: the hotel, the campus, and the coaches. Fitts is currently considering UCLA, USC, Washington, and Notre Dame.
4. Cornelius Elder; HB
Although he lives far away (Ensworth, Tennessee), he still has interest in the Bruins. He is currently in the ESPN 300 List. He is a speed demon who is the son of Cincinnati coach Mark Elder. Elder is currently considering UCLA, Cincinnati, and Ohio State.
5. Devon Allen; WR
Although he is small at six feet tall for a wide receiver, I believe he will be the next Steven Manfro (that is a compliment). He has the skills to be a threat not only in the receiving game, but also the running game as well. UCLA has been at the top of his list for a while now, and I believe he will commit come signing day. Allen is currently considering UCLA, Stanford, and Arkansas.
