From the fanpost. Great effort by MJFurman16 on updating the BN community on UCLA football recruiting. GO BRUINS - BN Eds.
Hey again, just doing an update on UCLA target Priest Willis (AZ). If you saw my previous post on the top 5 UCLA targets most likely to commit, Willis did not make that list. If you want to see that list, I suggest reading that article first here.
Priest Willis: Tempe, AZ: Marcos De Niza HS
The number 5 ranked safety in the nation, according to ESPN RecruitingNation, has brought in much attention, with 30 offers from many schools across the nation; with one of them being UCLA. After mulling his choices this past week, Willis reported that he has his top 5 schools (not in order of interest): UCLA, Nebraska, Virginia, Florida State, and LSU. Willis will take his last visit to UCLA this upcoming weekend. This could mean that UCLA has probably made a big impression on him, which could lead to his commitment. A month ago, UCLA was towards the bottom of Willis' large list of offers. The Bruins' position in terms of recruiting Willis has skyrocketed since then. This shows that the Bruins are making an extreme push to get him, and maybe even fellow safety and good friend Tahaan Goodman, who has expressed interest in going to the same college as Willis.
UCLA target Tahaan Goodman recently tweeted on his account that "I guess it's a no go for LSU...... sooooo UCLA bound with @pwillisjr3." You can visit the conversation here. Priest Willis then proceeded to answer his friend; "@TGoodD1 bet! I got two bed so whatever." I don't know if this a hoax or something, but if it's not, this would be outstanding to the Bruins, and a blow to the USC Trojans, who was going in hard for Goodman. UCLA's recruiting class is ranked 13th by Rivals.com, and if this is the real deal, I would expect UCLA's class to go to the Top 10 in the nation. If this goes through, UCLA would have 22 recruits in its 2013 class. I would also like to thank BruinInDenver, who commented this on my first post: Top 5 Recruits Most Likely to Commit to UCLA.
If the Bruins want to get both highly noted prospects come Signing Day, they need to woo them immensely. I look forward to writing an article about both committing to UCLA. I will update you guys soon!
In other news, UCLA has begun to fiercely recruit Elite 11 Quarterback Asiantii Woulard (Winter Park, FL; Winter Park HS). The Bruins just recently have contacted Woulard, a recent USF decommit, who is ranked the number one QB-DT (Dual-Threat) in the nation, according to ESPN RecruitingNation. Woulard is set to visit Westwood on January 25th, where he is expected to be treated like a king. In the past week, the Bruins have flown up Woulard's list, which includes: North Carolina State, Clemson, and Kentucky. Considering the caliber and championship chances of those schools (except Clemson, which could be UCLA's biggest competition for Woulard) UCLA has a pretty good shot at landing Woulard, who would fit nicely in UCLA's offense alongside Brett Hundley.
If Goodman, Willis, and Woulard all commit to the Bruins, UCLA's recruiting class would be the best recruiting class they've ever had, no doubt.
