Bumped from the fanposts. GO BRUINS. - BN Eds.

It appears, once again, that Bruins Nation is doing Dan Guerrero's job for him.

In the wake of last year's Olympic debacle, it appears as though the Morgan Center may finally be listening to suggestions from us. A lot of us scratched our heads during the London Games, wondering why no effort has been made to bring back sports such as Men's Swimming and Men's Gymnastics.

The obvious answer was that, in order to do so, UCLA would have to add women's sports as well in order to comply with Title IX and several sports were mentioned as possible additions including Sand Volleyball. In a comment titled "It's a Point of Pride and Marketing" to this post, I specifically suggested Sand Volleyball as a potential addition.

To be sure, I know gymnastics was a Title IX cut and I'm guessing men's swimming was too, so you probably would have to add an equivalent number of women's sports to go with swimming and gymnastics. Surely, we can find two sports (Sand Volleyball, Lacrosse, Field Hockey?) we can add for the women if our AD would just strap it on and do his job properly.

Well, Bruin fans, the first VERY small step was taken in that direction today when UCLA announced that it will add a Women's Sand Volleyball team for Spring 2013.

The team will be coached by UCLA Athletics HOFer Stein Metzger and will practice and play at the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica.

According to the official UCLA press release, this now gives UCLA 25 intercollegiate athletic teams with 15 women's teams and 10 men's teams.

Kudos to the Morgan Center for adding this new sport. Now, let's add the others that are necessary to bring back those other two tradition-rich sports at UCLA.
