Walker Bolts NMSU to Join NFL's Jags as DB Coach

John Reed-US PRESSWIRE

Bad news for all you fans who were looking forward to seeing the Bruins play DeWayne Walker's New Mexico State team next season: yesterday, Walker agreed to become the DB coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Personally, I find it amazing that Walker wasn't fired after this season when his NM State team won only 1 game. In his four years at NM State, he compiled a 10-40 record and never won more than 4 games in a season.

Walker probably saw the writing on the wall for this coming season. They are playing an independent schedule next season because the WAC is no longer a football conference (although it continues for other sports).

The school has named Offensive Coordinator Doug Martin as interim coach.
