UCLA Homecoming Committee Throws the Football Team Under the Rooter Bus

via @UCLA_Homecoming

Bumped. Just wow. - BN Eds.

It's Homecoming Week! Woo-hoo!

OK, I'll admit it.

I've never truly understood the point to Homecoming, but, leaving that aside for a moment, I cannot stand by quietly while the Homecoming Committee effectively throws the Football team under the proverbial rooter bus.

"How so?" you ask.

Simple.

Rather than committing to helping people get to game via more transportation, the Homecoming Committee is actually planning an event to watch the game at Pauley Pavilion.

Please re-read that last sentence.

Yes, you read it correctly. While the Homecoming Committee is unintentionally proving the point that we need an on-campus stadium, rather than, say, a hotel I mean...conference center. They have actually scheduled a Game Screening at Pauley Pavilion as an official homecoming event. WTF?!?

I mean, it's bad enough that our team just two took winnable games on the chin, but, now, our Homecoming Committee is actually giving people a reason NOT to go to support our team!

So, when the attendance for this game is not announced, be sure to thank the Homecoming Committee.

Maybe, if they weren't so busy rehearsing for a flash mob (yeah, they are practicing for what should be a spontaneous event), they would realize that, instead of hosting a game screening at Pauley, that money would be better used to fund additional rooter busses to actually get those people to the game.

This is just absolutely ridiculous.

I will be sending an email to the usual suspects as well as to Kaitlyn Williams, the Homecoming Committee Executive Director, and I encourage everyone to do the same.
