UCLA v. Stanford Women's Volleyball

Attended the match last night at Pauley with a good crowd showing up. We got swept in 3 with the set scores being 25-17, 25-15, 25-16. We fall to 9-4 overall and 0-3 in the Pac-12. Not a strong start to our season but we are a team in search of some consistent play and players. We were outhit in all three sets .586 to .229, .367 to .062 and .268 to .085. With those stats we will not win very many matches. If there was an "eye test" applied to this match and the team in general is that we look soft. Not a lot of hard swings and kills. We are slow to the ball defensively and seem to hit a lot of off speed shots that just end up being a free ball for the other team. Kelly Reeve is clearly the most enthusiastic leader on this team but it just hasn't transferred throughout the rest. We just are not very good at this point but I know Coach Sealy will have them playing solid volleyball real soon.

Karsta Lowe had 11 kills and Karly Drolson played well along with Kelly Reeves. Our middle attack is kind of non-existent thus making it easier for the other team's block to concentrate on the outside plays.

We play Cal on Friday. Looking forward to starting a new win streak.

GO BRUINS!!!
