ICYMI: Homecoming Committee Removes Game Screening From Event List

UCLA thought this was a place to watch home football games. - Stephen Dunn

Bumped. Fantastic effort by JoeBruin15 in leading the charge on this. GO BRUINS. - BN Eds.

Thanks to JaneAusten4Ever for this update.

On Tuesday at 5:29pm, the Homecoming Committee posted an updated schedule of events to their Facebook page.

You will notice that the updated schedule has removed the Game Screening from the Homecoming event list.

It has also been removed from the calendar on the Homecoming webpage.

Once again, this community has succeeded at fixing something that was clearly wrong or broken. So, thanks to everyone who contacted the Homecoming Committee.

As with any situation like this, please be sure to contact the Homecoming Committee to thank them for fixing it. Complaints lose their credibility when not backed up with kudos when appropriate. So, please be sure to email Kaitlyn to thank the Homecoming Committee.

It is worth noting that the screening is still listed on the Parents' Weekend website that Scott Mitchell referenced in his email to me.

I don't begrudge "others on campus" who favored the "balanced" approach. But, as I said in my email to Scott, I do believe that Athletics could have put together some sort of package to make it more affordable so that there wouldn't be any need for an on-campus Game Screening.

Such an offer would require forethought and work. Both of which are still lacking in the Morgan Center.

And, while I do not necessarily think that Scott or anyone in the Athletic Department had anything to do with it, if you sent an email to the Athletic Department, please send a note of thanks to them too.

Even if Chianti and Company had nothing to do with it, the problem was corrected. If they played a role in fixing it, they deserve thanks too. If they didn't help fix it, well, then, thanking them still helps maintain credibility for the next issue we see that needs to be addressed.
