Isaac Hamilton's Appeal Denied

Stephen Lam

The basketball news is coming in fast and furious now, but this one was a little more expected.

Isaac Hamilton, who had previous signed his NLI with UTEP and Tim Floyd, reversed course and decided to play for TRA. This typically carries the penalty of a loss of a year of eligibility if the NLI is not waived. Hamilton appealed, and today it was announced that the appeal was unsuccessful:

Isaac Hamilton's appeal designed to void his national letter of intent with UTEP was denied Thursday, meaning the UCLA student will not be allowed to play for the Bruins this season.

UCLA announced the development Thursday afternoon.

Hamilton will, however, be allowed to play with the team, so the team will still be able to practice against better competition this year. Hamilton did not figure into our calculations on depth and roster talent this year, so the effect on our expectations of TRA's first season remain unchanged.
