Bruins Host SAC Volleyball Tournament This Weekend

The UCLA men's volleyball team is hosting its annual SAC volleyball tournament today and tomorrow at the Student Activities Center gym. The tournament features four teams (UCLA, USC, UCSB and CS Northridge) in round-robin match play. The first matches begin at 5 PM tonight, with UCLA opening against a strong USC team that is responsible for the Bruins only loss so far in the fall season (preseason). Admission is free.

The Bruins should be a strong contender for the MPSF title and a national championship this season. Coach Speraw will be using the fall season to find replacements for starters Connor Bannan (setter), Dane Worley (opposite) and libero Evan Mottram. Coach Speraw will also want to see what his outstanding freshman class can do--all eight incoming freshmen were named to Volleyball Magazine's Fab 50 list, including 3 of the top 5. It will be interesting to see how Coach Speraw builds this team for a national championship run.
