New Year's Day Bowl Games: Open Thread

Happy New Year Bruins.

While we are all basking in the after-glow of our big Sun Bowl win -- we can enjoy football all day along. Here are the games.

I guess many of us will be rooting for Stanford and Nebraska today. Enjoy the day.

Bowl Open Thread: Johnny Maziel in Action

There are three other games besides our Sun Bowl in action today:

Hopefully Arizona will represent Pac-12 well unlike Arizona State did last night. Johnny Manziel's last game should be interested drama as well. Enjoy gameday.

Bowl Open Thread: Texas, Oregon, ASU in Action

We have four games on ESPN today:

Obviously it will be interesting for us to keep an eye on the Alamo and the Holiday Bowls. The Pac-12 is having a fantastic bowl season to date. The conference would have had a perfect record if not for Washington State's coughing up a big lead against Colorado State. Arizona State should handle Texas Tech. Oregon is a better team than Texas but the Longhorns have talent and will be emotionally fired up for Mack Brown's last game as HC. So that should be entertaining.

I don't have any thoughts on the Navy game. The Ole Miss game is always cool to watch because it's nice to see team with "real UCLA stripes." Enjoy the games today.

Bowl Open Thread: Notre Dame, Michigan in Action

There are some interesting games in the bowl schedule today. From uclaluv's earlier post:

Weird to see Notre Dame accept the invitation for this random bowl game.  I get it that it's in the Big Apple and being played in the Yankee stadium. But still ... We have seen these guys reject bowl invitations to random games before (they can do that given their TV K with NBC). As for Rutgers, we need to keep track of them somewhat b/c Bruins are playing them up in Jersey in two seasons.

The Miami-Louisville game will be another one to keep an eye for us. Let's see how the Hurricanes offense look. I am sure Bruins' target Brad Kayaa (the best QB from Southern California who committed to Canes earlier this year) will be checking in on this game.

The Michigan-Kansas State game is going to be fun to watch as well. Bill Snyder's team are always so well prepared and fundamentally sound, while the Wolverines look to finish up a disappointing season (for them) on a high note.

Enjoy the games. If you are watching them this is your open thread.

Bowl Open Thread: BYU-Washington, 'Cuse-Minnesota

There are three interesting games in the bowl lineup today. One of them is already in record book as Marshall (10-4) from Conference USA beat ACC's Maryland (7-6) by a score of 31-20 (interesting side note for the Bruins here is that their upcoming opponent Virginia Tech lost to Maryland during the regular season.

Syracuse (6-6) and Minnesota (8-4) are going at it right now in Q1 (scoreless at the time of this blog post - LIVE on ESPN) . Then tonight (6:30 pm PST) Pac-12's Washington Huskies (8-4) are going to take on BYU in the Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco.  The Huskies will be led by former Bruin assistant Marques Tuiasosopo who is serving as the "interim head coach" to bridge the gap between Steve Sarkisian and Chris Petersen. That game will also be on ESPN and worth tracking for Bruin fans. Enjoy.
