Bumped. You can include your name to petition demanding Chancellor Block to fire Dan Guerrero here or here. You can sign one or the other or you can sign both. At the end of the uclaluv will include numbers from both petitions while delivering to Murphy Halls. Folks who will sign the petition - if they are from the LA area - could be invited to a petition delivery event at the Murphy Hall, which should be of interest to the media and general UCLA community. This is one of many steps to publicly hold Block, Guerrero and the inept UCLA administration accountable. So don't wait sign and share widely. - BN Eds.
Yesterday morning I launched a petition for the removal of Dan Guerrero on another website. I did it outside of bruinsnation because I wanted the word to get out to other groups and people who are concerned about the issue of covering up the actions of people who do harm, terrible harm, to others. This is not a UCLA issue as we all know. With Penn. State and Stubenville, we know that these issues, covering for athletes and others in "important" positions, has become far too common. I wanted to see what kind of support we could have beyond this website. The response has been amazing. In less than two days the petition has been signed by over 1000 people.
So now it is our turn to add to the petition. MexiBruin and I launched a new petition at a non-political website which you can find here. The reasons for firing Dan can be found all over this site most recently here, here, and here. There is also great analyses of the financial issues by JoeBruin15 here. We need to figure out how to best use these petitions and might want to figure out how they can supplement some of the ideas suggested by Bryanucla here. But for now, let us sign, sign, sign and Hold Dan Guerrero Accountable for Hiring Steve Alford among other things.
Besides signing, please send this petition out to other individuals and groups you think might be supportive. Some of us will be at UCLA tomorrow and I am planning on bringing the over 1000 signatures so far from the other petition just in case we run into the Chancellor. This is just a the first step, but remember "every journey begins with a first step".
