For those unfamiliar, HHSAA stands for the Hawaii High School Athletic Association, the governing body of high school athletics here in Hawaii. Every year they recognize 12 student-athletes and induct them into their Hall of Honor. I was able to attend the awards banquet this year and 2 of this year's inductees will be heading to UCLA in the fall, Isaac Savaiinaea (Football) and Michael Fisher (Volleyball).
From the HHSAA website:
These 12 outstanding senior student-athletes were selected by a 14-person committee of current and former sports reporters, athletic directors and coaches from around the state after two days of meetings. The criteria is based mainly on athletic achievement but character, sportsmanship, academic record and community service also are taken into consideration.
Each inductee also will receive a $2,000 scholarship courtesy of Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
Just thought I'd share the profiles that were printed in the program with you all:
Let's hope these two continue to excel in the classroom, on the field, and in the community and represent UCLA to the best of their ability.
