ICYMI: Nebraska Dismisses Two Defensive Players

Greg Bartram-US PRESSWIRE

Earlier today I shared a link to a "nonconference" primer for our opponents in the fanshot section. Staying with that topic here is news worth noting this offseason. Nebraska recently suspended 4 players from their program. From ESPN:

Nebraska freshman defensive end Ernest Suttles has been kicked off the team after being ticketed for misdemeanor assault for allegedly striking linebacker David Santos in the head with a bottle at a party last week.

Coach Bo Pelini announced the dismissals of Suttles and linebacker Thomas Brown on Thursday night. Pelini did not give a reason in a statement released by the athletic department. Lincoln Police Capt. Danny Reitan said there was no record of Brown being connected to the alleged assault.

Suttles, from Tampa., Fla., was a highly regarded recruit. Pelini had said in February that Suttles had a chance to be an immediate contributor.

Hmm. The folks at Corn Nation described the dismissals as a "big blow" to the Huskers. Although they specially expressed concern about losing Brown who was "expected to do many things this fall." They weren't all that shook up about losing Suttles since in their words "there isn't much to remember about Suttles outside his recruitment." Guess we will see how this all plays out.

GO BRUINS.
