Lakers to Pay Homage To (UC)LA Nights Jersey

Andrew Fielding-US PRESSWIRE

Well maybe not literally, but according to Ball Don't Lie, the Lakers will be delving deeper into the color palette than ever this upcoming season. They will be going all the way to black on their new Hollywood Nights jerseys.

Last year, we debuted the LA Nights alternate uniform in the Rose Bowl as shown above. I'd say a few similarities exist. Not that the dark/black alternate is novel right now, but the surprise here is that by my recollection this may be the first time in decades the Bruins actually beat the Lakers to the punch at anything marketing or branding related.

While we can't exactly toot our own horns to that effect given Chianti Dan's botched rollout of those uniforms (couldn't even coordinate the debut game with all other parties involved, heckuva job Danny), at least from most corners it is agreed that the uniforms themselves looked good, and we looked even better playing in them.

I'd hope that the darker hues would have a similar effect on the Lakers, but I've followed this offseason. I don't see that happening.
