Cody Poteet and James Kaprielian are lights out in collegiate summer ball leagues

Baseball America Top Summer League Prospects

Baseball America named a top prospect in each of the 21 (!!) summer collegiate leagues. For the West Coast League (last league listed alphabetically in above link), Cody Poteet was the top prospect. Poteet was the midweek starter during the regular season for the Bruins. Poteet did not appear in the postseason run to the championship, but with Plutko and VanDer Tuig off to greener pastures (as in $$), he should have a chance to play a big part in next year's run.

According to the UCLA website, James Kaprielian was the #3 prospect in the top Cape Cod league. Kaprielian was the set-up reliever for Berg last season, including plenty of action in the postseason, and will presumably be a weekend starter next year.

We will have to endure a long January, after the end of football, with only Steve Alfraud's basketball program to tide us over. But then it's baseball season again ! Let the countdown begin.

Go Bruins !!
