FRIDAY NIGHT: Can UCLA Run LA in Everything – Including Hockey?

A couple of years ago the BruinsNation community helped UCLA's club hockey team avoid an unnecessary suspension leveled by a bunch bureaucrats at UCLA Club Sports. The team was very appreciative of how this community stepped up for them. So two days ago we got an email from the captain of the current team with a special request for Bruins who around campus.

This Friday night the Bruins will looks to beat the Trojans in the Crosstown Cup game 4. UCLA currently has a 2-1 series lead in the best-of-five. Here is the email we received from the captain of our hockey team:

This is kind of a big deal because in the ~20 year history of the Crosstown Cup, UCLA has never won two in a row. With a win Friday, this UCLA team could be the first to win back-to-back cups (and 3 of 5).

He added (emphasis mine):

Yes, this is a club sport, but these games really get intense and heated. Winning the Crosstown Cup last year (on Trojan home ice) was probably one of the best moments of my UCLA career. Friday night is a chance for UCLA fans/students/alumni to show up in BIG numbers and show the Trojans that we run LA in EVERYTHING.

Any help from BN to give us some publicity would be great.

Well that seems like a pretty persuasive case to me. Here are the details:

WHAT: The Crosstown Cup Game 4 (UCLA up 2-1 v. Southern Cal)*
WHERE: LA Kings Valley Ice Center (8750 Van Nuys, Panorama City, 91402)**
WHEN: Friday, January 24 at 7:15 pm

*$5 general admission entry fee.
**There will be free bus for students leaving from Strathmore and Gayley at ~6:30PM.

We hear that there maybe a "a special "VIP"" who will "perform a ceremonial puck drop at center ice before the game," and that "if everything goes as planned, this VIP will not disappoint (he's kind of a big deal)."

All of this sounds like fun. It certainly seems like more worthwhile to show up for this game than showing up to watch TIARA's dumpster fire at Pauley.
