Bumped. Congrats to Coach Ulbrich. Now let's hope he helps Mora deliver with at least a Pac-12 championship in 2014. GO BRUINS. - BN Eds.

In an expected move, UCLA Football Head Coach today announced that LB/ST Coach Jeff Ulbrich has been promoted to Defensive Coordinator. He replaces Lou Spanos who left after two seasons to become the LB Coach for the Tennessee Titans.

In a statement on UCLABruins.com, Coach Mora said, "Coach ‘Brick’ is a natural fit for this position, having run an NFL defense for years as a player while honing his abilities to get the most out of his players as a coach. We couldn’t be more excited about this move."

There was no indication as to whether Coach Ulbrich will continue to coach linebackers and special teams as part of his duties or if another defensive assistant will be hired.

In addition to Ulbrich’s promotion, Mora also announced that Adrian Klemm will serve as Associate Head Coach in addition to his duties as Running Game Coordinator/Offensive Line and Demetrice Martin will serve as Assistant Head Coach in addition to his duties as Passing Game Coordinator/Defensive Backs.

Personally, I'm a little surprised that Coach Mora didn't take advantage of announcing this in front of the crowd at Pauley Pavilion on Wednesday night, but I guess that he didn't want to take the focus away from the newest Bruins.
