To me, David and Travis represent well the "student/athlete" concept -- players who played to the best of their abilities and took advantage of the educational opportunities that their athletic skills brought to them.
In this time of one and done, it was good for our program to have a couple of kids who stayed. In some ways, they provided continuity to a program going through turbulent times. We cannot overlook the effort which it must have taken to weather the storms and changes -- especially the worst years of Coach Howland and the first year of his successor.
There are plays each of them made that I will remember. But, what I will remember most is their character. Criticized or lauded, blamed or praised, they never said one word that would reflect poorly on themselves or UCLA.
David and Travis, my Bruin Brothers, you will be missed.
