Another Spaulding Walk-Off Home Run Keeps The Bruins Undefeated

The third-ranked Bruins have needed a lot of late game heroics to keep their season perfect, and it was no different against the fourth-ranked Michigan Wolverines yesterday. After conceding the tying run in the top of the seventh, freshman Delaney Spaulding ripped a three-run homer to left in the bottom of the eighth, giving the Bruins a 4-1 victory that improved their season record to 17-0. Spaulding's walk-off homer is her second of the season, and the Bruins' fourth walk-off hit of the 2014 campaign.

Jessica Hall pitched another outstanding game for the Bruins, blanking the Wolverines over the first five innings and allowing just 2 hits while striking out 5. In addition to shutting down the Michigan batters, Hall crushed a solo homer in the bottom of the second to give UCLA an early lead. Ally Carda pitched the final three innings for UCLA, allowing Michigan three hits and its only run of the contest. Even though Carda wasn't as sharp as usual, she improved her record to 10-0 with the win, and has allowed just 4 runs in 56 innings of work.

UCLA plays Michigan again tonight at Easton Stadium at 7 PM. The game will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.

Go BRUINS!
