UCLA Basketball: Alford Plays the Blame Game - Throws Players Under the Bus

Dak Dillon-USA TODAY Sports

Bumped. GO BRUINS. - BN Eds.

This is what the man said in the LA Times wrap-up:

"If we had come back in the last few minutes and won, it would have been a shame because they outplayed us and they deserved to win."

No, Steve, if a team pulls out a win (despite playing abysmally earlier) it's called a comeback. Maybe you never heard of it.

Alford also said,

"I thought that was as poor as we have concentrated all year."

Well, Steve, isn't concentration the most basic thing you can teach your players? You've had all season. Isn't that long enough?

When asked what the team could do to somehow win both games on a road trip, you answered, "Score more points."

Right, and in other news, the sun rises in the morning and sets at night.

If this is the best job you can do in leading the team, Steve, I have a suggestion. When everyone arrives at an arena for the next game, cover your eyes with one hand and say, "I think we're here."

That way, your action, or inaction, will match the caliber of your thoughts.
