Bumped. Let's also use this as an open thread for tonight's game. Go Bruins. - BN Eds.
UCLA hits the road for the first time in a midweek game tonight, at Loyola Marymount. This is the 2nd game of 3 this season (all midweek) against LMU. The Bruins fell at home in the first contest on March 4 by the score of 6-1.
Grant Dyer (freshman righty, 3-2, 2.02) vs. Brenton Arriaga (freshman lefty, 1-2, 5.65)
UCLA is 3-2 in midweek games, all of which have been started by Grant Dyer. The average score in the 5 games is 4-3, which is pretty low for midweek games, a tribute to Dyer. In the earlier game against LMU, Dyer did not get to the 5th inning, but only gave up 2 earned runs.
LMU is 3-4 in midweek games. The average score in these games is 4-5. The earlier game with UCLA was started by Patrick McGrath, who has since become the Saturday starter. Arriaga has started the last 3 midweek games. LMU is 1-2 in these games, including 2 losses to $C. Arriaga has not made it through the 5th inning in any of these starts.
This game sets up nicely for the Bruins. But every game starts 0-0, top of the 1st.
Go Bruins !!
