UCLA Baseball- Another Starter Goes Down for the Count

USA TODAY Sports

Chris Keck, the junior starting 3rd baseman for UCLA, is done for the year. The cause is a blood clot in his arm. Keck typically batted 7th in the order, and was batting .215. He had started every game this year until last weekend's Utah series. He started 22 games as a sophomore, at 1st and DH.

Aaron Weimer, who started at 3rd in Keck's absence, will presumably get the starting nod the rest of the season. Weimer is batting .300 in 10 at-bats this season. He is a redshirt senior who has had very little playing time for the Bruins during his career.

Brian Carroll and David Berg also have question marks, after missing the Utah series (except for a brief appearance by Carroll on defense in the opening game). It is too bad that points aren't awarded for dealing with adversity, because Coach Savage and the Bruin team would be raking in points big time this season.

Go Bruins !!
