Bruin 8-Clap Dominates the Las Vegas Strip

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

You can't stop the Bruins. You can only hope to contain them with an "unlawful assembly" order.

In what is becoming a yearly Bruin tradition, U.C.L.A. students descended upon Las Vegas last weekend, celebrating the final weeks of spring quarter and the long Memorial Day weekend by making the jaunt up I-15 to spend the weekend poolside and casino side in Sin City.

The LA Weekly has the story, though for an LA news source, they know surprisingly little about one of U.C.L.A.'s oldest and most recognizable traditions, the 8-Clap. But never mind them. The nearly 1,000 students who gathered in front of the famous Bellagio Fountains knew all about it, and they put it on display.

If you listen closely, the "alternate ending" seems to make an appearance, which is nice.

The impromptu Bruin rally lasted over a half hour before the local police dispersed the crowd, citing an "unlawful assembly", which is somewhat ironic considering the holiday being celebrated on the weekend. But no matter. The Bruins peacefully streamed back into the casinos and bars and pools and any number of other fine establishments along the Strip.

I guess were it not for the LVPD, we'd own that town, too.

Go Bruins!
