Pac-12 Networks Add International Distribution via YouTube

Soon, Bruin fans will be able to watch Brett Hundley on Pac-12 Networks outside the US via YouTube. - @pac12networks

One interesting bit to come out of Day 2 of the Pac-12 Media Days is that Pac-12 Networks has reached an agreement with YouTube to distribute Pac-12 Networks internationally.

Pac-12 Networks President Lydia Murphy-Stevens said:

"Securing international distribution has been a top priority for us, especially knowing that we have so many alumni and a growing fan base outside of the United States. YouTube is synonymous with innovation and instantly provides us with incredible reach to serve our fans and universities. We are very excited about this new channel."

This is certainly a great move for all the alumni who live overseas and want to watch UCLA win the Pac-12 this year.

The Pac-12 Networks also announced expanded distribution on all Cox network systems and with Time Warner Cable, making all seven networks available for fans in the LA area, the Midwest and the East Coast with Pac-12 Networks now reaching a total of 60 million homes in the U.S.

Personally, I'm a little surprised that Pac-12 Networks didn't partner up with MLB Advanced Media. MLBAM is, according to Forbes, the "biggest media company you've never heard of".

As a baseball fan, I'm familiar with MLBAM, but I didn't know that their reach was so extensive.

Plus, Pac-12 Networks could have relied on MLBAM's experience with MLB.tv to launch a US and international subscription service, giving them a way around the DirecTV blockade.
