Great Article On Brett Hundley -- Reinforces Some Things Said Here

This fall, after attending my firstPacker game in Mecca (Lambeau) -- a game in which Brett played 3 quarters and led the team to a comeback victory, I wrote a post giving the Wisconsin perspective on Brett. I focused on the reports of the incredible progress he was making in overcoming what were perceived as "fundamental flaws" in his technique.

Here's a cite to a Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal-Sentinel (can you tell that a couple of papers merged?) article on Brett's current status. To say the least, it is rosy: Hundley Preparing to Step Up

The article reinforces much of what we know:

1. Brett in a bright, talented athlete. He is learning and improving, fast;

2. His draft status fell because of his flawed fundamentals; most of us understood why -- he was not well coached; that's never really stated, directly, but the fact that within weeks, with proper coaching, he had corrected the problems, is.

The reasons for the problem are gone. Josh will be the true beneficiary of the change -- for he will get what he needs to be prepared for the pros.

I also post this as a rebuttal to those who, in support of the departed coaches, challenged Brett's talent level, smarts, and ability to learn. This article makes very clear what most of us know -- he is a very special kid, in all respects.

What's most interesting is the discussion currently surrounding Brett in Wisconsin -- as to whether he will be the heir apparent to Rodgers or will be traded away. It is clear that he will be the back up, next year. However, although I find this hard to believe, there is some dissatisfaction with Rodgers, now, and some who feel he will leave sooner than expected.

When I wrote this fall, it seemed that Brett was being groomed as trade bait. Now, it looks like he may be a starter -- and maybe within a year or two.

Whatever, I'm thrilled for my Bruin brother. I hope you enjoy this article as much as I did.
