SC Needs To Beat Notre Dame

Doing mathematical calculations for our BCS rankings, we need USC to be #1 when we play them on December 3rd or USC and Cal must finish the season in the top 10 in order for UCLA to have any shot of making it to the Rose Bowl with a perfect season. As it stands right now, if UCLA goes 11-0, the Bruins will probably be bowling in Tempe in January. But before we immerse ourselves any further in this discussion, UCLA must take care of business and beat Washington State on Saturday, preferably light up the scoreboard for at least 40 points. A UCLA victory on Saturday will move the Bruins up to the #10 spot, at the very least. I am counting on Notre Dame losing to the pesky Trojans.

SC is going to have to lose 2...
...to get knocked out of the national championship game.

I would like to see ND beat them tommorrow, then we can put the nail in their national championship hopes, hopefuly elevating us to the #1 or #2 spot.

Well what if UCLA is the only undefeated team from
a major conference?  I mean how many times are there three undefeated teams?  Last year was the only time in recent memory.  Sure there have been seasons when there were multiple 1-loss teams and there was a debate about which one should be #2, but the odds of that many undefeated teams are not good.  The season is only about halfway over and already there are only 8 undefeated teams.  It's quite possible that Penn State and USC could both lose today, meaning there would only be 6 undefeated teams

Since we are getting way ahead of ourselves...
"A kid can dream, can't he?"

How's this for a dream?  What if on Dec. 3 UCLA and U$C are the only undefeated teams from a major conference?  Then we beat them, moving us to number one, but they are rated high enough to stay at number two.  Could you imagine UCLA vs. U$C in the Rose Bowl for a national championship?!?  I'd have to take a week off of work just to get ready for the game.  There would be absolute pandemonium in this city.  And then we win?  Beating $C twice in a season to win a FOOTBALL national title, at the same time ending their attempt to win 3 straight national championships?  If that happens, we'd have to change the name of Hilgard to Dorrell Drive (like I said, this is a dream).

Anyway, GO BRUINS!
