Around SBN: Penn State Recruiting Roundup Is Set For A Big Junior Day

Bruins Cruise Past UW: Postgame Thread

The Bruins go to 3-0 in conference on the eve of the big game against WSU on Saturday by battling, bruising, and beating UW 69-55.

UW came out with intense man defense, but in doing so gave up the transition game: A fatal mistake against a passer like Kevin Love. The Prince once again showed versatility on offense, torturing the Huskies from both the inside and the outside.

The big question from tonight is will Darren Collison ever get a break? He left the game clutching his hip, and we can only hope that he was held out as a precaution because of the large lead his teammates had built up going into halftime.

The time has come for the Bruins to once again assert supremacy over our conference.

We are going to need all of our guns to take down Washington State on Saturday. Best wishes to DC.

GO BRUINS!

RW
was phenomenal tonight off the bench.  Hopefully DC can get that hip treated and get back for Saturday.   Keefe and Stanback played well, too.  Love has improved so much on defense.  This team is looking good, Bruins!  Howland and his assistant coaches have done such an outstanding job with this team!

Saturday
I'm really stoked about Saturday's game vs. WSU.  It'll be my first trip to Pauley in about 4 years. I've been going to games there since the '83 season (Kevin Love is just a BIT of an upgrade over Stuart Gray ;)) and I just haven't been able to get to as many games since I moved away from the west side.

I think it's going to be a great game, tight all the way - a real defensive battle.  Both teams are going to have runs where they don't score a lot of points.  I like UCLA to win by about 5 thanks to an advantage in turnovers and rebounding plus what should be a pumped-up home crowd.

They better have Collison
I think that is a must. Anyone heard the scoop on how he is?

by Dodger Hater on Jan 10, 2008 11:05 PM PST reply actions

It doesn't look good
According to Dohn, Collison suffered a hip contusion and his availability for Saturday's game is questionable. Luc Richard, on the other hand, suffered a knee contusion, but will most likely be back for Saturday's game.

Also, there's a chance Roll might not be back this season.

UW vs UCLA
My wife and I attend the UW game at Pauley tonight. She is not found of college basketball and knows very little about the game.
After a few minutes into the game she would close her eyes when Collison went to the basket. Even she knew that he is a risk driving to the basket. He tries to do it all and ends up costing the team too many points. CBH is short on bodies but he must control Collison in the paint or we will lose.

Your point being
Your wife knows nothing about college basketball, therefore you take your clues from her?

by Nauseator on Jan 11, 2008 12:05 AM PST up reply actions

no, point being...
Even someone who is not familiar with basketball at all can see that every time a player as small as DC drives the lane full of bigs there is a chance of injury

lame comment
This is basketball, not basket weaving. Point guards take it to the hole. Injury is always possible, but you still must play the game. I suggest you leave your wife at home next time if she can't watch.

CRN pregame interview
For those that missed it, here's more of Rick:

(Had to split it into 2 clips due to length limitations.)

Nice to see CRN everywhere, generating FB interest in the off-season. Great to see the energy, exposure, excitement!

Grok
If you can you should put this in the diaries or if you email us the codes, we put this up on the home page. Good stuff.

Good News, Bad News
Rick is impressive!

Also, good interview and good questions except for the ubiquitous "how have you grown in the last few years?" It was probably mitigated by the fact that Christine Nubla asked it; she's a babe!

you should see her sister
Malou Nubla is on channel 5 in the Bay Area. Smokin'! Makes Christine look like a red-headed stepchild.

Injuries are a concern
Having Darren hurt this many times already in the season is a big concern. Losing Roll possibly for the season is another huge concern. Stanback and Dragovic may be forced to grow up in the system quickly because they might get major minutes soon just so the team isn't worn out. I hope the injury from Luc won't be very serious considering his injury that he played with all year last season.

dragovic's not an option
Except in garbage time. If he has to play meaningful minutes, we're toast.

it would have been nice if
the game were at 7:30 Saturday instead of 11:30 so DC could get a full day of treatment
