Someone Top Off my Passion Bucket

Now don't get me wrong by the title. I bleed blue and gold all day long. But...

Star-divide

Now don't get me wrong by the title. I bleed blue and gold all day long. Nothing touches my heart more than watching that clip of Sons of Westwood on the ukulele (http://www.bruinsnation.com/story/2008/1/27/205810/408) and beating $uc in roundball with our Ben Ball Warriors, especially AA2 and LMR. Plus, if my screename is any indication, I am so excited by CRN taking back this town from the trOJies. But... I am a little frightened about our football program's schedule for the next year. We have a very challenging lineup of burly men to line up against, from BYU to Fresno to the hicks from Tennessee. Then we have the Pac-10 schedule, including the thugs from Washington (if their basketball program is any indication), the horrible cheering squad from those Oregon Duck fans, and worst of all another match with the trOJies. At least its in our beautiful Rose Bowl instead of the Mausoleum, but I just don't know what I would do if we lose again to those thugs from across town--it might take a lot of Appletinis to get over that one if CRN can't stop Pom Pom. Am I being reasonable? Please tell me I am, I sometimes underestimate our program which is silly, since we are first to 100 national championships (thanks to women's water polo, you go girls!) and probably the greatest university in the world.

We lose a lot,
we're trying to integrate a new system and our schedule is as tough as you say. Don't expect a great year from our squad record wide, but we're going to see a team that competes, is creative and will get better as the year goes on. Next season will not be measured in wins and losses.

You're right on most accounts
Optimism and realism can coexist.  Keep bleeding blue and gold with an eye on the long term goal, but don't expect too much in the win column next year.

But, dude, appletinis are not cool.

I'm just happy to watch a team
that should give us the same effort week-in and week-out, and won't steal wins. But in '09? HELL yes.

Keep in mind
Coach Howland didn't make the tournament his first year.  Therefore, I'm not expecting miracles in 2008, but if the coaches and team are giving their best, great things will follow.

Live in the Fresno area
I know it will be a difficult year for the team with everything new and all the player losses, but we must beat Fresno St. If we don't, living up here will be most difficult. My wifes son and several of his friends are all graduates.

Fresno "grads"?
My condolences.

Thank You
I don't even try to explain how little that piece of paper from that school means in the real world.

The Bucket List
Add 7 wins, 5 losses or possibly 8 wins 4 losses to the list with an additional win in a bowl. Too much to ask? Not really.  Slick Rick will find a way to inspire our boys like he did in his first year at CU and UW. The Slickster pulled off some miracles and he didn't have an offensive General like Stormin' Norman Chow. If Chow can't reincarnate Ben Olson into Troy Aikman after 2 games, look for K-Craft to take over.  He's the real deal.  Oh, and the SC game at the Bowl is gonna be historic.  Look for Rick and Chow to throw everything and the kitchen sink at Pom Pom Pete, cuz they hate SC.

The Best they Can
Next year I will have a similar outlook to the early Howland Years. I am hoping for a squad that plays the best they can and that the coaching staff puts them in the best position to succeed. Wins will follow from there.

We can expect progress
But great strides will not occur until year two or three. I expect to win 2 of 3 out of conference games. And finish in the top half of the Pac 10. USC, Oregon, and ASU will be the teams we must pray for victories against. Everybody else is beatable. Including us.

I found a fantastic article on ESPN
that tells of UCLA's all around greatness. The article left me with a smile on my face. I'm too lazy to diary it up, so if somebody is willing to do that:
