CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR WARRIORS
I am sure glad our Ben Ball Warriors have more heart than some of our so-called chicken little fans who proclaim the sky is falling at the first sign of adversity.
What an incredible game.
First of all, mad props to the Stanford Cardinal basketball team. Our warriors pull out their WIN OF THE SEASON against one of the best coached team in the nation. We wish them best of luck rest of the season.
Going back to us - OUR WARRIORS - for those of you who have been on this little online bar, did you have any doubt? We didn't (discounting chicken little, bandwagoning, infrequent commenters who only show up to whine and bitch when things aren't going too well).
Ben Ball warriors clinch the Pac-10 by beating the Trees in a heart stopping over time game. The final score 77-67. Here is the early box score.
It was a frustrating night at first. Our offense wasn't in sync. But Love was keeping us in the game:

Photo Credit:AP Photo/Kevork Djansezian (via ESPN)
When we made a run in the second half, Stanford kept answering every one of runs. And we were missing FTs, layups, dunks, when we had our opportunities to take control of the game.
Yet despite all of that adversity DC, RW, LRMAM, KL, and JS scratched, clawed their way into a tie at the end of regulation before taking control in OT. It was once again our lock down defense that ignited another incredible comeback.
So congratulations to Coach Howland and his 2007-08 team for winning their 3rd straight regular season Pac-10 championship. If I have my info. right (off the top of my head), I think that's the first time that has taken place since the days of Coach John R. Wooden. Congratulations again Coach Coach Howland.
We will be with OUR WARRIORS every step of the way. Again for those who jumped off the bandwagon in the first half ... don't try to come back on it.
Thread is all yours. We will have lot more tomorrow.
Oh before I say good night ... I LOVE OUR TEAM.
GO BRUINS.

This Game
Freaken Unbelievable
The last UCLA games I saw in person, that I thought were equally exciting, where the Washington game in 2005, when we came back from being down like 26 in the second half to win by 9 and the Gonzaga game in the Tourney the following year. Unbelievable.
I even hung out way late and took pictures with Coach Howland, Russell, Lorenzo, Josh, K Love, and Luc. I even got K Love and Luc to sign my Jersey.
Like I said, "Truly Epic."
How can I upload some of those pics here? I think I even saw the Ukuhlele, or however you spell it, dude there.

Preview of Staples?
Hopefully, next time we can get some real announcers, who aren't circling what Stanford should do and praising to the high heavens simple Mitch Johnson bounce passes.
We won't make it to the finals.
From pissed off to pumping fists in the air...
And that's what our guys did.
You CAN have faith and still be frustrated at what you see.
Just don't give up. Coach Howland doesn't. Why should we?
Excellent improvement by our team int eh 2nd half. What started out as a shadow of a Florida loss turned into shades of a Gonzaga comeback.
Gradually increasing pressure on D... at halfcourt... then 3/4 court... then fullcourt in the final minute!
RW shaking off a possible ankle roll (praying for good health now!) to give defensive pressure and clutch scoring.
DC shaking off hesitation and Furd defenders to carry the scoring load.
KL diving, leaping, stretching, pushing, batlting for every desperate rebound and tip-in.
Luc playing tight, in your-jersey D and taking every angle for rebounds.
Josh, even when not scoring, still driving, probing, trying to make things happen.
Aboya and LMR, doing what they do -- fighting for every rebound, shuffling and hustling and hedging every screen and roll, stepping in front of every player on a drive, cleaning up the messes.
Don't let up, Bruins.
DON'T LET UP.
Good job. Next hurdle...

CONGRATS TO OUR PAC 10 CHAMPIONS
I can't wait for Tele to give us the replay of that call, because obviously these tards didn't see that DC's elbow was hit TWICE and there was body contact to boot. The replay will end the discussion beyond all doubt.
Body Contact
That said, I am surprised the stripes had the guts to call it like it is in the last minute. Given how physical the game was, I was expecting them to swallow their whistle.

Wow!
But why do we keep digging ourselves into a hole against great teams? We kept clawing our way back to only 7 points down, then got shut down again and again.
Anyways, CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR TEAM!!! Let's keep it up and wrap up the regular season on Sat with a win against Cal for LMR's last home game as a Bruin!
Stanford Interviews on the post-game show
The Lopez bros stayed behind an awful long time
I'd cut them some slack
I hate Stanford (possibly not)..
Second, I guess the two wins this year (particularly last night's amazing come-back) go a long way towards erasing the bitter memory of that Sunday night 15-point fade last year.
As others have said, it must have been tough to swallow this defeat; if it is true that the Lopez twins stayed around and signed autographs, etc. then that speaks volumes about what gentlemen they really are.
gratuitous dig: how they got that way, with their carping mom, is beyond me.

DC fouled with 2.5 seconds
Tough game as expected between the #1 and #2 in the conference. UCLA showed character to come back from behind to an excellent team. Hopefully, the Bruins will get it together and not get behind during tournament play. But this experience just teaches then to never say die and that with hustle and tough defense, you're never out of it as long as there is time on the clock.
There He is
Seriously, the video says it all, and the truth is on our side. Celebrate this one Bruins, and let the willfully ignorant haters figure out for themselves out to unclench their rectums.

couple thoughts
why didn't trent johnson put back in robin lopez? i though furd outplayed us when both were in.
i'm not sure about the foul on dc with 2 secs. but it looked like a charge on the other end. didn't check out the body contact mentioned by others. to me it looked like he might have touched dc's elbow with the left hand before a clean block with the right. it was really questionable, but who knows we might have hit a shot with an out of bounds play.
great comeback, as usual from this team.
congrats to stanford. if they can keep both lopez bros in they'll be tough to be in either pac ten or ncaa tournament. i hope the ncaa selection committee gives them a favorable seed.

Shipp played some clutch D down the stretch
Plus, I like how Shipp wanted the ball at the end to be fouled. Sure he missed the first free throw, but he is a leader on this team and I liked how he wanted the ball.
Take care of Cal

When i said our guys
my heart was jumping out of my neck...but DC was a man he was a man out there tonight...i mean lets not forget that drive and dish to luc for the first points of over time, wow
theres so many people that im not given the due respect right now, luc battling late on the twins klove with those two tips so huge, rw getting penetration and hustling big time on thoe double teams
Hey Ollie,
i know its bad
but seriously thats not just all emotion that was a joke i might as well been watching this thing in san jose..i cant stand those hack jobs
i know come game time i let that hooliganism get the best of me but im trying im trying
No worries
But DC..
this MAN has facilitated, made it rain from outside, hustled, played intense D he just made me so happy and proud
The way he has grown and matured since being a gutty little speedster as a freshman to the true leader of this bruin squad has been a joy to see...i know im young and havent seen some of our all time greats
but Darren will always have a special place in my heart
Tank The Tournament

We dropped to a 2 seed
Shipp has to shoot
DC is unbelievable. I was concerned awhile back that the injury would affect his game for the rest of the season. He can go off and he should be the key to making things happen on the offensive end. His confidence is running high. Just an unbelievable comback, what an emotional game. This has to be a huge lift as they gear up for conference play.
I honestly don't understand
It is much more irritating to me to listen to people who say lame things like "have faith" as if any internal feeling of the people WATCHING the game has any impact on what happens on the court.
Yeah, my team can't throw a pea in the ocean (or make wide open dunks), but if we just "have faith" and stop being such whiners, everything will be A-OK!
I sure the heck Howland is recruiting some shooters!
The facts are we have a team that can't shoot worth crap. This game wasn't an abberation, "one of those days" or anything like that; we flat out can't put the ball in the hole.
Now usually our superior rebounding and turnover differential will make up for our brickmanship, but we can't outrebound everybody as evidenced by tonight's game.
But I didn't post this to analyze the game or our weaknesses.
I am questioning the mindless, uncritical analysis and empty platitudes that pass for commentary whenever someone points out that the emporer isn't wearing any clothes.
I admire this board for the basketball knowledge, devotion, and unwavering committment to excellence as evidenced by our non-acceptance of the likes of Dorrell and Lavin.
When people complain that we are falling short in some area, why do others have to shout them down and lable them bandwagoners, fair-weathered, etc?
To me it incredibly silly that the people who notice a problem are mocked. Isn't realization of those problems the first step to fixing them?
Certainly "having faith" isn't going to do any good.
I tell people to have faith...
What bugs me is when people say we're going to lose... and it's not even halftime. Not, "we're going to lose if we don't get more rebounds, " or "we're going to lose if we don't make our throws." i can lvie with that.
I mean people who say, "we're going out in the first round," "we're going to lose by 30, " or "we're getting a #5 seed."
Having a little faith, especially during a tense game, keeps this place from turning into nothing but griping and arguing amongst ourselves.
Faith and analysis can go hand in hand.

And if you want to insult the content here as mindless, uncritical analysis without taking into account the body of work from last three years then don't come back here.
Lastly, if you attack any of the moderators here you will be gone. Consider that as a warning.
Frustration: yes. Whining: no.
Expressing frustration, anger, etc. can be useful on an open forum, but the moderators here at BN have every right to say they don't want to see posts that go over board. I see no problem with the philosophy.

Where do you rank Stanford?
I would love to see the Pac-10 get a #1 and #2 seed in the tourney, but I doubt that the West (Best) Coast will get that sort of latitude. Now, if it were Duke and UNC...

I would be stunned
That was a great game
I don't think I've cursed so much while watching a game. It was probably a good thing I wasn't in the game thread today.
I was really anxious that we scored FIRST in OT, because I knew it would set the tone. Good D to start too also helps.
Congrats Bruins on 3 straight Pac 10 Championships! GO BRUINS!
I know what you mean
But throughout it all, I thought that we had a chance. And when RW's FT hit the rim 34 times and bounced through, I thought we might actually pull it out.
yea trent
I just know it...right there that theyve gone to far you cant allow anyone to ever do that to you especially on your own court when i see that playground garbage your done, your gone, were going in for the kill right there
god i love our boys
It must have been an awesome experience
I am confused sometimes about some being labled bandwagoners or critisized if they express some frustration. Maybe I missed something and didn't read the entire thread. I don't care for trolls or those whose sole purpose is to slam the team at every turn, but I do appreciate a free exchange of thoughts and analysis. I understand why many don't care for continuous negative commments, such as going out in the first round, etc. I love this site for all of the exceptional anaylsis, insight and information. I can't emphasize enough how great it is to engage with other bruins. I'm so harcore, I tend to express my frustration like others. I had faith they could make a game of it and perhapy even win. Expectation are so high, it's hard to see them play like they did in the first half. I just don't want anyone to be concerned about being critical for fear of being labled a bandwagoner, hater, etc. Just my 2 cents.
Awesome game, many great comments. I get so much from analysis on here when I can't see the game on TV. Tournament time is just about here. Baseball team looks great. RN and Chow are making some serious noise. God, it's great to be a Bruin right now.
Not to you specifically

Classy response by Hill
Television commentators for the game questioned the call and the timing of it. Not Hill.
"No, if I fouled him, I fouled him," he said.
That's a really stand-up response from Hill. Lots of us see how he clearly got DC on the body. Telemachus has posted some nice video clips that show exactly that.

Wow!
Best game of the season.
That free throw by RW that bounced high off the rim was the scariest moment for me. How that went in, I don't know. If there's a game this season - given we win it all - that I could look back and say that was the game that made us champions, this was it.
The building was absolute mayhem. Never heard a louder game this season.

Amazing
Great win by our team after having a bad first half, DC was just amazing -- 3/4 from the arc.
Only thing is the last layup was unnecessary, but I hope Stanford understands that we were all just extremely excited to win the game, and meant no disrespect (e.g. was not a dunk on them).

I wasn't following the thread in the bar, but I can imagine what that must have been like. For the record, I was freaking out, but I never lost the faith...there was just something in our players' faces that said they were NOT going to lose this game. And, of course, Collison refused to let them.
After I was done getting hit with the defibrillator, I couldn't get to sleep for hours.
Cards, you are classy. I'm Proud you're in the Pac-10.
DC, RW, and all of you...THANK YOU FOR ONE OF THE GREATEST DAMNED GAMES OF ALL TIME!!
I know that
I think I suffered from a mild heart attack when Russell shot his 1st FT at the end of the game. One other thought I had after the game - a few more second halfs/games like that during the remaining tourneys and we will no doubt be losing all three (KL, DC, and RW) to the NBA.
