Read it and Weep. KLove announces he's gone.
From the WWL:

"The All-American freshman announced Thursday that he'll skip his final three college seasons and enter the NBA draft.
Love led the Bruins in scoring (17.5 points) and rebounds (10.6) on the way to a 35-win season and a trip to the Final Four, where UCLA lost to Memphis.
Scouts have projected Love to be a top-10 pick in the June 26 draft, according to his coach Ben Howland.
Love made the announcement at a campus news conference Thursday afternoon, joined by Howland and Love's father, Stan Love."
We all knew this was coming. But now that it's here, I can't help but admit that I wonder what could have been if he stayed one more year. Anyway, let's hope that the nuclear option does not take place. This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

OK, True, But...
I mean, intellectually, we all knew he was gone after one when he came last year, but...
...it's hard not to dream.

Westbrook also.

Damn, that's extra bad news.

RW will come back if
"Neither will not hire an agent at this time, meaning they could potentially return. Westbrook said he might stay if it looks like he'll fall below the 20th pick in the draft."

Love discussion on PTI
Kornheiser says that if money is not part of the equation, stay in college and enjoy the college life, but he is ready for the NBA.

I agree partially with both...
I also think RW would benefit a lot running the point for a year in college to prove he's not a combo guard without a true position.

So, I beg to ask the question
One year of overwhelmingly strong play and a Final Four--is that the marker for individual greatness?
Personally, the one-and-done is understandable, but we also made the Final Four without him. I'm curious to see where KL ends up in UCLA lore (the fact that we have lore is, in itself, telling of the tradition)

He had the potential to be.

Heck, I'd even put Earl Watson ahead of him
FWIW, I did some venting on my site as well, looking at the big picture. Don't know if anyone will agree with it or not.

I agree
I guess it says a lot about UCLA that a comparison to Baron Davis could almost be seen as an insult.

I agree
Can't fault Love though... if offered millions of dollars as a freshman, I would probably make the same choice. As long as the one-and-done scenario is remains, we will not likely have any more all-time Bruin Greats... unless a fab. freshman comes in that is absolutely mind-blowing and bulldozes his way to title #12...

Nope. Could have been.
One year just isn't enough to be an all-time great except, perhaps, if he'd led the team to the title. I think if he'd done that, it would have been a close call.

He Didn't Hire An Agent, I'm Still In Denial!
How much do I need to pay the Lakers and Clippers to tell K-Love to go back to UCLA for one more year?
by alcor805 on Apr 17, 2008 4:14 PM PDT 0 recs
Would Portland even draft Love
Forget the Lakers. They don't even have a 1st round pick this year (and definitely don't need size).
The Clippers? Maybe
BTW, the chance of Portland winning the lottery: 0.6%
