Classic Vin Scully

5

Some people are "unflappable," but only because they’re out of it. Vinny, on the other hand, is the dictionary definition of unflappable. He mentions a 5.3 "tremor" in stride, and never wavers from calling the game. He weaves anecdotes about the '89 SF quake into his commentary, but never loses control of the game. Vinny is the Captain Sully of baseball broadcasting. What a gem he is.

The UConn Program

+

I post this because it may help explain why Daniel Hamilton would go there. The Coach, Kevin Ollie, I believe is a Crenshaw raduate, so he has LA connections. This article ends by saying the future is cloudy, but doesn't say why. I assume because of the conference situation--its a shitty conference. They want to be in the ACC. Look out, if that happens.

Prep Schools: One of the issues with college basketball

One-and-done, AAU and prep schools. Something is rotten in Denmark.

Is Mike Montgomery about to retire?

4

Lot of rumors around Berkeley that Monty may be "leaning" towards retiring. That is probably not a shock as he looked somewhat "checked out" during the closing weeks of UCB's season. He is a great coach. It will be tough to replace him. GO BRUINS.

ICYMI: Jordan Adams Going to Test NBA Draft Stock

6

Although he is not retaining an agent at this time, and can still return, Jordan Adams is going to ask for an official NBA draft projection - if he ends up deciding not to return, UCLA will be in dire straits next season, with LaVine and Anderson already on their way out the door.

LA media has some tough questions for Steve Alford after Florida

Well ... not really. GO BRUINS.

New York Times: UCLA basketball alumni "brotherhood" is second to none

The UCLA Bball Alumni brotherhood is second to none. According to the NY Times, the key: UCLA is in Los Angeles. This is why we should get the best players.

"Spring Showcase" to be at StubHub Center

Per Coach Mora "Not only does the StubHub Center provide us with a first-class facility to showcase UCLA Football, it is located in an area that allows us to expand our footprint in the Los Angeles market. We practice in Westwood, play our games in Pasadena and train during the summer in San Bernardino. This Showcase is a great opportunity for our fans down south to watch the Bruins play in their own backyard."
