So let's clear something up before tonight's BN podcast at 7 pm PST. Yes,...

So let's clear something up before tonight's BN podcast at 7 pm PST. Yes, the Bruins are winless since Ryan and Josh started this fun project here on BN. However, it is definitely not there fault. It wasn't them who screwed the mojo from our three game winning streak. The blame falls squarely on the shoulder of Bill Splashme who tried to jump on UCLA's bandwagon after we started 3-0. Everyone remember what happened following Splashme's epic effort jump on our bandwagon back in 2001 right before the Stanford game?

Anyway, here is to breaking the Splashme Curse this weekend. Ryan and Josh should have a great show tonight and John Berkowitz, SBN blogger from UW Dawg Pound will be joining them during the podcast. So tune in, call in or get engaged via the comment threads. Again you can get the full details here.

After UCLA lost four starters from last year's team, Lee knew he'd take on an increased role. An intensive offseason training program had Lee making 500 jumpers a day, running the sand dunes in Manhattan Beach and the steps in Santa Monica. He returned to Riverside only on weekends and played pickup ball with his old high school teammates.

Then adidas Nations hit, and Lee decided, "I felt like I should just be me."

Lee excelled against his fellow college counselors, a group that included Cincinnati's Deonta Vaughn, Baylor's Ekpe Udoh and Georgia Tech's Derrick Favors.

"He was really, really tearing people up," Anderson said.

Said Lee: "I just kind of knew I had it all along. I just felt this was basically my main stage."

His main stage now will be Pauley Pavilion, where tonight Lee begins his sophomore season, his first as a starter. UCLA coach Ben Howland said Lee's shot is what improved most this offseason. Others said it was his ball-handling. But after a sterling adidas camp, it was most likely his confidence.

"When he was at J.W. North, he was oozing with confidence," said Lee's father, Toshio. "But when you go to play at a high level, high-major program, every kid that goes into a program like that has been All-American. ... Once he learned he had to wait his turn, that's the big part. You've got to wait your turn."

Guys. A quick note on house keeping. SBN will release a visual update to the layout of all blogs in the network. Part of the new lay out will include a refresh of the current visual design across all blogs, an effort to make posts more readable, and push text higher above the fold, and a first step in a project to improve load time. I think you guys will enjoy the cleaner look when it gets unveiled tomorrow. At least it's scheduled for tomorrow.

GO BRUINS.

Urban Meyer = Pete Carroll of the SEC?

Urban Meyer = Pete Carroll of the SEC?

Does this article remind you of someone? Only coaches like Pete Carroll and Urban Meyer would suspend a player for one friggin' half for trying to blind an opponent. I'm still not sure what our 4 guys did to deserve their 1 gamer, but it couldn't have possibly been worse than eye-gouging. What a terrible message to send young players.

Coach Ben Howland: "Honored" Guest At Lakers' Practice

Coach Ben Howland: "Honored" Guest At Lakers' Practice

From the Daily News:

Honored guests

UCLA coach Ben Howland and assistant Donny Daniels watched some of the Lakers' practice. Howland then met with former Bruins guard Jordan Farmar for a few minutes after the Lakers completed their workout.

Always great to see when two of my sports world converge in the same place. Now only if MJD can somehow end up with the Niners ...

GO BRUINS.
