Pasadena, CA (Sports Network) - Willie Tuitama threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Arizona Wildcats to a 31-10 win at Pac-10 rival UCLA.
Mike Thomas was able to make some big plays in the Arizona (3-1, 1-0 Pac-10) passing game, catching four passes for 115 yards. Rob Gronkowski came up big with two TD receptions, while Nic Grigsby carried 20 times for 59 yards and a TD.
Kevin Craft (15-of-31, 81 yds) had a rough day under center for the Bruins (1-2, 0-1), who were trounced by BYU, 59-0 last weekend.
Trailing 3-0 after a 41-yard field goal by Arizona's Jason Bondzio, the Bruins grabbed a 7-3 lead after Korey Bosworth scored on a one-yard fumble recovery with 3:41 remaining in the first quarter.
But the Wildcats turned it on in the second quarter with two straight touchdowns. First, Tuitama found Gronkowski for a 22-yard scoring strike with 13:11 remaining in the half. Then, three minutes later, Grigsby found pay dirt on a three-yard run.
UCLA trimmed the deficit to 17-10 at the half, thanks to Kai Forbath's 35-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Wildcats took a 24-10 lead on Tuitama's four-yard touchdown connection to Gronkowski with 12:49 to play.
Six minutes later, they padded their lead on an eight-yard touchdown run by Xavier Smith.
With top quarterbacks Ben Olson (right foot surgery) and Patrick Cowan (torn ACL) sidelined with injuries, the Bruins passing game has struggled immensely. Craft averaged just 2.6 yards per attempt.
