Recap: Gonzaga vs. Montana St-Billings

Spokane, WA (Sports Network) - Austin Daye had 15 points and 12 rebounds, as 10th-ranked Gonzaga crushed Montana State-Billings, 83-52, in the season opener for both teams.
Josh Heytvelt had 15 points and eight rebounds, while Matt Bouldin added 12 points for the Bulldogs (1-0), who scored 28 points off of turnovers.
Michael Hall led all scorers with 24 points, while Brad Hodge added eight points for the Yellow Jackets (0-1), who shot just 32.7 percent from the floor.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a big lead by scoring 14 of the first 17 points of the contest and led by as many as 18 points in the first 20 minutes.
However, the Yellow Jackets closed the half with a 15-2 run and only trailed by five points, 33-28, going into the locker room.
Early in the second half while holding an eight-point lead, Gonzaga used a 14-2 run, taking a 55-35 lead on Daye's slam with under 11 minutes to play.
The Bulldogs expanded on their advantage throughout the remainder of the game to hold on for the win.
Gonzaga hosts Idaho on Tuesday...This was the first time these two schools have met...Gonzaga shot 47.7 percent in the game and made 13-of-16 free throws.
