Dorrell on the HOT SEAT

Happy Friday everyone.  A beautiful day out here in the Eastern seaboards.  The Sporting News puts Coach Karl on the hot seat (emphasis mine):

Five programs that are an underachieving season away from looking for a new coach, whether it be Joe Glenn or someone else:

Penn State. Even JoePa knows this futility can't go on much longer. If the Lions don't show significant improvement (seven wins), Happy Valley finally will enter the 21st Century.

Alabama. The Tide is talking about a contract extension for overwhelmed coach Mike Shula. With another losing season -- and another loss to Auburn -- that extension simply will mean more years to buy out.

Colorado. Gary Barnett saved his job by winning the Big 12 North last season. With a new president and athletic director, he might have to win the Big 12 title to keep it this time.

UCLA. How many six-win seasons can deep-pocketed alumni take -- especially with cross-town rival Southern California the talk of college football?

Missouri. A program with a ton of potential is spinning its wheels with a coach who can't embrace the university community off the field and can't find consistency on it.
Just one add to that blurb. It's not just the deep-pocket alums - the entire spectrum of Bruin alums and our BruinsNation (minus the Blindos, Circulos, and Strawculos) will not accept another six-seven win season. Period.

So, the Sporting News is not the only national publication calling out the underachivements of Dorrell.  CFN has been on his case for a while (again, emphasis mine):
Coach on the Hot Seat - Mike Bellotti, Oregon - No one expected Bellotti to produce double-digit win totals every season, but three years of mediocrity and no postseason wins has the former rising star in unfamiliar territory. The administration wouldn't be foolish enough to replace him anytime soon, but a Top 3 finish in the Pac-10 would be timely. Playing in the shadow of mighty USC, UCLA's Karl Dorrell looks overwhelmed in his two seasons in Westwood.
Congrats to KD for bringing Bruin football all this national exposure.  Let's hope certain folks are paying close attention to UCLA this upcoming season.

Go Bruins.
