Maxwell Pundit (aka the Blog Heisman) Week 7
Continuing with our weekly voting on Maxwell Pundit. Here are my 5 choices for the MVP from week 7:
Troy Smith, QB, Ohio State: What can you say? Yet another efficient performance from the best player in college football. Troy helped OSU cruise pass the hapless Spartans by completing 15 of 22 passes for 234 yards and 2 TDs. His season number to date are staggering. 17 TDs, 2 picks, and he is completing almost 70 percent of his passes (170 attempts) throwing for almost 1500 yards. The only suspense left is to see whether the Wolverine D can stop this almost picture perfect march to the top of college football world.
Steve Slaton, RB, West Virginia: How powerful is the Mountaineer offense? SS had another spectacular afternoon, rushing for 163 yards (again over 8 yards a carry) and 1 TD, against Greg Robinson's Syracuse. But it was his team-mate QB Patrick White, who stole the show by rushing for an astounding 247 yards in 15 attempts, and 4 TDs. Still Slaton right now is solidly in the second position for this season award behind Troy Smith. He has 931 yards rushing, averaging more than 7 yards a carry, and 9 TDs. Again it will be interesting to see if any team can actually stop him in the regular season?
Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame: Brady had a bye week. But no doubt he was scouting DeWayne Walker's Bruins. With 1634 yards in 6 games, 16 tds/4 picks gives he is staying steady in this race, and is now getting ready to make a statement heading into the second half of the season. Not sure I'd like to be in Rodney Van and Trey Brown's spot right now. ATV has had two sensational pick-6 this season, but he got them against Utah and Arizona (backup QB). Brady just may be ready to make a move over Slaton this upcoming weekend.
Mike Hart, RB, Michigan: Exit (sadly) Mario Manningham (and Adrian Peterson) and enter Mike Hart. Although Hart is entering this group because of injuries, he is one of the very best. He had another 100+ outing this past weekend against PSU (for the 6th time in his 7 games) helping the Wolverines to pull out a classic grinding Big-10 win. He has rushed for 907 yards (averaging 4.95 yards a carry) and 6 TDs, and could be in position to gain even more notoriety should the Wolverines finally get their revenge at Columbus next month.
Erik Ainge, QB, Tennessee: Ainge back in the list. He had a bye week last weekend. But just like Hart he has the numbers: 1657 yards, 69 percent completion, 14 TDs and 5 picks, with a QB rating of 171.58. He is clearly one of the best conventional passers in the college game today. And you know what is interesting? Ainge was somewhat interested in Karl Dorrell's football program. Ainge who is from Oregon, took a visit to UCLA on November 15, 2003, when UCLA was hosting Oregon at the Rose Bowl. That day Karl Dorrell's UCLA offense put on display their pathetic WCO offense, after which Ainge decides to go somewhere else. Bruins lost that game 13-31. Anyways Ainge is now shining as the next great QB from Tennessee:

And we don't blame Ainge going to a program where the offense actually works.
As it's obvious sadly we had to drop Manningham and Peterson from this list because of their injuries.
If there are others who are worthy of top-5 mention, please let me know in this thread.
GO BRUINS.

It ok...
That's when I'm calling the guys in the white jackets to come and visit you with one of their special outer garments.
I had to read it twice just to be sure that's what you wrote. You've had a rough few days I know.
Ian Johnson
Rushing: 998yds
Yards Per Carry: 7.0
TDs: 14
Those are better stats then either Slaton or Hart. BSU will be a BCS team by the end of the year too. Keep an eye on this kid.
