Around SBN: Race to the Roses & BCS Bowl Predictions

Heroes

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month our nation will be paying tribute to those who have served our nation in uniform. So while we are taking in all the games from across let's make sure to say our prayers for all those brave men and women who are risking their lives so that we can live free.

I wanted to mark the occasion by sharing this clip of my all time favorite TV mini series, HBO's Band of Brothers.

And wouldn't you know it - there is a Bruin angle here. Lt. Lynn "Buck" Compton, one of the most highly esteemed officers in legendary "Easy Company," is a Bruin.  He was a gifted athlete who played for the UCLA baseball team.  He was as an All-American catcher.  And then he played for the UCLA football team that played in the Rose Bowl on January 1, 1943. Another Bruin hero. Well they all are.

May God bless our veterans and families. May God bless our men and women in uniform. God Bless America.

GO BRUINS.

Doesn't Captain Sobel remind you of......
someone's leadership skill?
I love Band of Brothers...watched it 1834324923 times over and over. Buck Compton represents what a true leader should be like...showing courage and strength at critical moments....something that I haven't seen in our HC.

lol
well it is pretty obvious who is Major Winters in the world of major UCLA athletics. Well he is Major Winters without the hair. But still works for us.

Well said
Thank you to all of our veterans and to all who are protecting our freedoms and our country. We are truly in their debt.

Agree
Please take a moment to think about the Americans who have served, and especially the men and women who are currently on the front lines.

Kind of makes you feel silly getting so wound up about a game.
