Lets Get the Ben Ball Party Started!! (web broadcast)

UPDATE: You can watch tonight's game on the web for $5.95 by clicking here.

Media picks Ben Ball to finish numero uno in the Pac-10:

The UCLA Bruins are picked to finish first in the 2006-07 Pacific-10 Conference Men's basketball race, according to a poll of media members who cover Pac-10 men's basketball.

The poll shows that UCLA, the defending Pac-10 champion and Pacific Life Pac-10 Tournament champion, gathered 21 first-place votes and is picked the favorite this season.' ARIZONA picked up 13 first-place votes and is tabbed for second place. WASHINGTON is slotted for third place, followed by OREGON, which picked up the remaining first-place vote. CALIFORNIA is picked for fifth, followed by USC and STANFORD. Rounding out the preseason poll is OREGON STATE in seventh, followed by ARIZONA STATE and WASHINGTON STATE.

While we just have hours left till the show gets started in the House that Wooden built. Here is the official site's nitty gritty on Cal Poly Pomona: UCLA opens its exhibition season on Nov. 2 in Pauley Pavilion, when it hosts Cal Poly Pomona. CPP is a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and an NCAA Div. II institution. The Broncos were 17-10 last year and finished third in the CCAA in 2006. Cal Poly Pomona was NCAA Div. II West Region champions in 2003 and 2005, advancing to the "Elite Eight". The Broncos had a string of three straight NCAA playoff appearances (2003, 04, 05) snapped last season, but have recorded 12 winning seasons in a row, the most in program history. The Broncos have a lot of talent returning, including first-team All-CCAA guard Dion Cook (15.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg) and the 2006 CCAA Freshman of the Year, Larry Gordon (6.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg). The Broncos also return five other players who started at least eight games last season. Cook, Billy Hofman (4.9 ppg, 2.2 rpg) and Melvyn Nicholson (7.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg) are the returning seniors on the team. The Broncos also return the services of junior center Kaelen Daniels (7.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg). You all ready for this?!!

Tonight's Game HAS VIDEO!
I got an e-mail today from UCLA Basketball letting me know that both tonight's game against Pomona and the game against Humboldt will be available online as a video broadcast. I'm very happy they brought this back. The only downside is the guy with the bad lisp will probably be doing color commentary on the game.

Check out CSTV for details.

$5.95 per game
Audio feed also available, but at the same price.

If you pay $5.95....
you get audio for the rest of November in addition to tonight's game.

I happy to see this internet video experiment continue. Imagine if the Pac-10 signed a deal similar to mlb.tv?

broke down
and paid $5.95.

21 more minutes until Benball!

and nothing
Nice job CSTV/UCLA, for apparently not having the server working correctly

by bruinhoo on Nov 2, 2006 8:01 PM PST up reply actions

not bad
if it is for the whole month's access

I would LOVE an mlb.tv (without the alleged customer service problems)/MMOD type video feed. Right now, I  have to feel lucky that we get 1 or 2 Pac-10 game/week on the east coast. I would certainly pay for that.

I've invested in a Sling Box
I put it in Simi Valley and now I can watch almost all of the UCLA basketball games on FSW2(or FSWPT). None of the cable systems in San Diego offer FSW2. Without the Sling Box I'd be screwed and only see the nationally televised games. I'm so hyped about the bruins I had to order tonight's game.

by alcor805 on Nov 2, 2006 3:56 PM PST up reply actions

good plan
Maybe I should buy my dad a slingbox for x-mas, with the expectation that whenever a UCLA game is no, the cable is set. And yes, I'm planning on ordering tonight as well.

It really does not feel like it has been 8 months since Ben Ball was last with us

Do They Even Listen To Their Own Broadcast?
The mics are maxing out badly. I hear a buzz on every word they say. They have to adjust the sound it's driving me crazy.

any update on how they look?
can't wait for the real thing against BYU - gotta imagine nestor will have a bball round-up tomorrow right?
Go Bruins, Go Howland, F-Lavin, and let's get rid of Dorrell....

They're Beating Them 42-25 at halftime
The Bruins look good. Afflalo is too good to play these guys, he's got 12 pts. 5 rebs and 3 asts. at halftime. Collison is playing too fast. Mbah a Moute has not shown up so far. Keefe looks really good. The Bruins are missing free throws(9-14) but shooting well from the field(15-27). Pomona is a better team that CSUMB was last year, if that means anything.

Afflalo Looks Buff
I wouldn't want to fight him. He's 10-20 lbs. bigger(All Muscle).

by alcor805 on Nov 2, 2006 8:42 PM PST up reply actions

Game
Mbah A Moute has looked very good on the defensive end and has made some nice moves such as getting a steal driving it and making a nice pass to Shipp.  Shipp has been impressive and Roll looks much improved in all areas.

Turnovers and some sloppy defense have been problems.

by trainwreck84 on Nov 2, 2006 8:47 PM PST reply actions

Keefe has been solid
Dragovic looks very raw and Westbrook is showing a ton of athletic ability.  Basically the freshmen are playing like one would expect.

by trainwreck84 on Nov 2, 2006 8:49 PM PST up reply actions

UCLA just scored 6 pts in a row
All on breakaways. The defense is starting to look like last year.

by alcor805 on Nov 2, 2006 8:49 PM PST reply actions

UCLA has not gotten to run as much as they wanted
in the first half.  This half they have gotten to run a lot more and it is making a huge difference.

by trainwreck84 on Nov 2, 2006 8:52 PM PST reply actions

Dragovic: The Odd Man Out?
Aboya and Wright are in foul trouble. I wonder why they aren't using Dragovic more?

by alcor805 on Nov 2, 2006 8:53 PM PST reply actions

Pomona is trying to slow down the game.
UCLA keeps trying to run. Collison needs to chill out, he's forcing it too much.

by alcor805 on Nov 2, 2006 8:56 PM PST reply actions

Yeah, Collison is a bit out of control
Plus he is just so much faster than everyone.  I would like to see Collison and Westbrook together.

by trainwreck84 on Nov 2, 2006 8:58 PM PST up reply actions

Mbah a Moute is back
I thought his first half was misleading.

by alcor805 on Nov 2, 2006 9:04 PM PST reply actions

He needs to learn....
not to overuse the behind the back dribble. Howland took him right out after he used it unnecessarily.

by alcor805 on Nov 2, 2006 9:08 PM PST up reply actions

Shipp is Ready Too
He looks good. Very dangerous in the open court.

by alcor805 on Nov 2, 2006 9:14 PM PST reply actions

Haha
I actually thought they looked better

by trainwreck84 on Nov 2, 2006 9:19 PM PST up reply actions

like shaq
they are playing themselves into shape

by bruinhoo on Nov 2, 2006 9:19 PM PST up reply actions

they don't look bad
mind you, I have been around mainly law school girls for the past few months

by bruinhoo on Nov 2, 2006 9:20 PM PST up reply actions

They're a bit thick in the hips
I'd like to see some porn star quality cheerleaders

by alcor805 on Nov 2, 2006 9:24 PM PST up reply actions

Back 2 back 3s
Collison and Afflalo. Afflalo looks like he could have scored 30 in this game if he wanted to.

by alcor805 on Nov 2, 2006 9:21 PM PST reply actions

Aboya is Winded....
He needs to run more in practice.

by alcor805 on Nov 2, 2006 9:22 PM PST reply actions

73-43 not bad
If they wanted to UCLA could have won this game by 50-60 but they wanted to play all the new guys.
Afflalo - A
Shipp - A
Mbah a Moute - A-
Keefe - B
Aboya - B-
Wright - C
Westbrook - C
Collison  - C-
Roll - C-
Dragovic - D
Abdul-Hamid - Inc(Didn't Play Enough)
